Interior Announces New Funding for Wildfire Management

Deputy Secretary Beaudreau visits Blackfoot-Clark Fort Restoration Landscape in Montana.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced that they are allocating $185 million for wildfire management in 2024. Deputy Secretary of the Interior Tommy Beaudreau made the announcement recently during a visit to Montana’s Blackfoot-Clark Fork Restoration Landscape, a 2.64 million acre area that will use this funding to conduct controlled burns, wetland restoration, and recreational enhancements for hunters and fishers.

“As climate change brings longer fire seasons and more extreme fire behavior in Montana and across the West, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to wildland fire preparedness and response,” said Deputy Secretary Beaudreau. “Through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, we are strengthening our wildfire response efforts, providing increased certainty to allow land managers to better prepare for future needs, and ensuring our wildland firefighting workforce is given the respect, compensation and training support they deserve.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Deputy Secretary Beaudreau as he supports wildfire prevention and preparedness.
  • For Interior Department officials as they collaborate in conservation and restoration efforts.
  • For wisdom for Interior Secretary Haaland as she heads the department.
